H.O. Wolding to Provide 50 CDL School Scholarships for Veterans

Amherst, Wisconsin – (May 9, 2006) – H.O. Wolding, a short, regional and long haul trucking firm, is offering 50 $500 CDL school scholarships to veterans interested in a trucking career. The first 50 veterans who earn their CDLs at Wolding-approved schools and are hired by the company will qualify for these scholarships.

According to Marc Wolding, vice president of operations, the company is extending this opportunity to honor veterans and to add to its team of experienced professional drivers to meet current and future growth opportunities.

"At H.O. Wolding, we're always looking for good drivers. They are essential to our business," Wolding says. "Plus, with this scholarship program we have an opportunity to honor our nation's veterans by providing financial support to help those interested in a trucking career."

Wolding says his company has a long-standing tradition of providing financial assistance to help new drivers get started in trucking. "Our CDL school tuition reimbursement plan is unmatched in our industry," he says.

To help it attract and retain good drivers, Wolding says the company offers a full benefits package and also maintains a strong commitment to helping drivers achieve a satisfactory work-home balance.

"One of the things that we're most proud of at our company is the fact that our drivers know well in advance when they'll be on the road and when they'll be at home," Wolding says. "This has been very well received by our drivers and has helped us develop a strong, stable driving team over the years."

Drivers at H.O. Wolding can choose from long haul runs that take them to the coasts and mountain states, short haul runs that offer more at-home time or regional runs that provide a combination of the two. "These customized programs address individual driver needs and have proven to be very successful," Wolding says.

In addition, Wolding says the company maintains a strong safety program, which drivers also appreciate.

Wolding says the company offers both competitive compensation and secure employment. "Our drivers average $50,000 per year in earnings with some making more than $70,000 a year, and in our 73 years in business we've never had a single layoff," he says.

He says the company has also invested more then $5 million in new tractors and trailers in 2006 to help meet its growth objectives.

H.O. Wolding employs 400 workers, serves customers over the 48 contiguous states and maintains a growing fleet or more than 350 tractors and 1100 trailers. In 2005 it reported $55 million in gross sales.
